Inverse Random Source Scattering for the Helmholtz Equation in Inhomogeneous Media

چکیده
This paper is concerned with an inverse random source scattering problem in an inhomogeneous background medium. The wave propagation is modeled by the stochastic Helmholtz equation with the source driven by an additive white noise. The goal is to reconstruct the statistical properties of the random source such as the mean and variance from the boundary measurement of the radiated random wave field at multiple frequencies. Both the direct and inverse problems are considered. We show that the direct problem has a unique mild solution by a constructive proof. For the inverse problem, we derive Fredholm integral equations which connect the boundary measurement of the radiated wave field with the unknown source function. A regularized block Kaczmarz method is developed to solve the ill-posed integral equations. Numerical experiments are included to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

The Convex Scattering Support in a Background Medium
We discuss inverse problems for the Helmholtz equation at fixed energy, specifically the inverse source problem and the inverse scattering problem from a medium or an obstacle. In [S. Kusiak and J. The one-dimensional Marchenko equation forms the basis for inverse scattering problems in which the scattering object is accessible from one side only. Here we derive a three-dimensional (3D) Marchenko equation which relates the single-sided reflection response of a 3D inhomogeneous medium to a field inside the medium. We show that this equation is solved by a 3D iterative data-driven focusing ...

متن کاملAn inverse random source problem for the Helmholtz equation
This paper is concerned with an inverse random source problem for the one-dimensional stochastic Helmholtz equation, which is to reconstruct the statistical properties of the random source function from boundary measurements of the radiating random electric field. Although the emphasis of the paper is on the inverse problem, we adapt a computationally more efficient approach to study the soluti...

The performance of the preconditioner for Helmholtz problems at high wavenumbers in heterogeneous media is evaluated. Comparison with ...
